Clarification... I'm With-Spawn

I laughed as I read your comments on my Wordless Wednesday post. Most were so excited about me winning the crib that they totally bypassed my little hint. Others thought they missed an announcement and frantically searched my archives. Some threatened me... I had better not be pulling your legs! And one joked that if it's bad luck to have a crib before I'm pregnant, I could sell the crib, and get a dishwasher... Instead of getting ahead of myself (love you Amanda!).

So... I won a crib yesterday... just in time! Just in time for what? Well, like a little puppy I've been dropping little surprises for you all around the house: "...A day I'll remember forever... For more reasons than one", Foreshadowing, a new blog design with a pregnant girl...

But for those of you who weren't picking up what I was putting down... I'M PREGNANT! And now we go back in time...
To the day I found out... The day I ALMOST told you.

***Written October 16th, but saved for you for today!***

It all started with a Twitter Poll. To test or not to test?

I had abstained from the thought of testing all month. It was 13 Days Past Ovulation (DPO) and I was considering testing the next morning. But I couldn't do it without the peer pressure from friends.

Some urged me to "Wait! It was too soon to see a Big Fat Positive (BFP) and others... "Go ahead, you have a million anyway!"

I left it up to the poll to decide.

As of Thursday morning, here were the results:Though that morning... As usual the morning of a pee test, I began to have my doubts. The thoughts of chickening out, and waiting until "tomorrow" crept in my mind. I tweeted those thoughts and @graciekate replied "Don't you dare!"

So I honored my promise to test that morning, then and there.

I got up, and grabbed my iPhone, created my own hashtag, and went in the bathroom to tweet my experience. Here's how it went down:Yes. I took the time to pee in a disposable cup (which I purposely keep under the bathroom sink for this reason), set it down, and tweet.
It really only took me about 5 because a minute after that I sent this tweet:I brushed my teeth, and set the test to the side. I checked my Twitter replies occasionally to keep myself from looking at the test. But when about three minutes had passed, I let my eyes wander and spot the test... I saw what was undoubtedly two lines, then all I could manage to get out was this:I in no way, shape or form, thought that the test would be positive. They were never positive, I didn't know if positive tests really existed or if people just made it up... A trick they use, but don't tell you about until you're pregnant... Torturing all of the ladies trying to have a baby.

I frantically brought out the big guns. I had used a dollar-store test and knew the expensive digital kind would tell me the truth. I couldn't get the tape off of the box and I was already running late for work. There was no time to go downstairs for scissors. I use my teeth, nails, and and attempted with my razor blade. Finally, I just used my mega-woman-wanna-be-pregnant strength and ripped the entire box in half... Mind you, the whole time I was trying to be quiet as not to wake my husband up, who was sleeping in bed a few yards away.

BINGO! I had the test, and luckily, I saved the cup of pee. I dipped the digital test in the cup for 20 seconds, as the directions indicated, and watched the thing think.

Moments later the word "Pregnant" stamped across the screen... Shock stamped across mine.

I grabbed the test, opened the door, and began to outstretch my arm to hand the stick that proved our lives were about to change forever over to my sleeping husband. ...But right before I woke him up, I turned around, and went back in the bathroom.

Had I forgotten? All of those months of planning how I'd spring the surprise on my husband about flew out the window because of my extreme shock. This wasn't the emotion I expected to have once I finally saw the good news. I guess I just wasn't expecting any for a long while.

I had forgotten about my twitter audience, which by now I had about 50 people asking me WTH happened! But I couldn't tell them... not before my husband, not before... I don't know, I just couldn't.

I got ready for work then woke my husband up and told him I wanted to call in sick to work. He woke up, and told me he'd take me, and to stick it through.

I made him come downstairs and sit with me while I collected my things for work.

As planned, I asked him to call my phone that I had "misplaced," When it rang, the ringtone was different than the one he's had for years and it rang to the tune of R. Kelly's "I'm Having a Baby."

... He didn't get it.

After a few more minutes of hinting I decided to cut the cute stuff and get to the point. I handed him the test. Clear as day, there were to be no misunderstandings.

"What does that mean?" ... The sole word "pregnant" wasn't clear enough. "For real?" He asked me.
"Yep!"

Then we both sat there in shock. Not sure what to do next. So he took me to work.

Later I remembered my waiting friends, by then, the number of twitter replies had risen to about 100! And I sent the only Tweet I could manage to form. The only thing that would keep my secret a secret awhile longer, while also not making it a blatant lie:And that has what I left you with.. until now.
Back to today: I've been keeping a journal of everything here since the day I found out, but have kept it in my "drafts" until now. This was so I could have a fresh look back at my thoughts about this pregnancy from day to day. I didn't want to announce it until our families knew. Because Lawd knows if they read it on my blog first... Things would not have been pretty. We told them Sunday.
I'm exactly 6 weeks along Friday and I have my first doctor's appointment that same day! They told me they're not doing an ultrasound but they'll check to the heartbeat! I hope we can hear it!

For the next week or so I'll post what I've been going through since day 1 post BFP. If you're not following or subscribing to my blog yet, you may want to sign up now, cause it's going to be a wild ride!

The Dream Was a Premonition

When I heard the trailer to New Moon was going to be released during the MTV Movie awards I knew I had to set my DVR. Luckily I was able to catch it before I left work, and my friend and I watched it not once, but three-times! Woohoo Jacob is lookin' good. I was an Edward fan but seeing these characters in life-form is turning me over to Team Jacob's side... I mean NOW I understand why Bella had such a hard time choosing! ...Anyway, I watched the preview for a fourth time once I got home, with my husband, and watched a little more of the awards. Ok people. Twilight was ok but I don't think it deserved ALL of those awards.

I think all that award-watching set me up for my dream last night. I was in the audience at the MTV Movie Awards, and they had just gotten done announcing the last award. But after the show was off of TV Christie and Lorraine of The Blogrollers had one last award to give out. The Blog Roller 4th Wheel winner.

I sat in my seat, anxious, waiting for them to announce the winner. They stood up at the podium holding the popcorn trophy and said "And the winner is...." "BABY MAKIN' MACHINE!!"

I was so excited, I was going to go to BlogHer '09 with The Blogrollers!

This morning I woke up and checked out their website first thing to see if they had posted the winner yet.-- They hadn't. I checked their Twitter page to see if there was any hint of the announcement--There wasn't yet. So I tweeted for a little bit that morning before I got ready to go out to see "Up," right before I closed my computer I checked my @ replies on Twitter one more time and saw a few people had told me what I had been hoping to hear somehow "The Blogrollers just announced you're the 4th Wheel, Congrats!!" I was so excited... But wait, was this some sick joke? How did they know?

That's when I realized Chatterbox had announced it live on her blog radio show, I tuned in to hear the end, debated calling in, but decided not to. But sure enough, they told me I had won! I was so excited! You can read the post here. I re-listened to the show so I could hear when the announced the winner, it was really cool. I know it must have been such a hard decision for the judges but I'm SO glad they picked me and I won't let them, or any of you down!!

So the announcement wasn't MTV awards and golden-popcorn trophies but it was close... and I dreamt it the night before! So doing some side-by-side comparisons, and if my dreams are accurate, and in fact premonitions--and I had a dream about winning the Blogrollers contest the night before it happened, and a dream about being pregnant with twins the night before aunt flow missed her appointment, then maybe.... Nah. I'm still thinking no. But we'll see. There are ups and downs with this theory. See, ups... No more debating, it's taken care of. Downs... I didn't get a baby-makin'moon, and the fertility yoga I was about to start would pretty much be pointless. So to be honest, I'd be happy either way... I think.

Hubby is up to speed, we're playing the waiting game. I took another test yesterday... correctly and it was negative. That gave me a little piece of mind but still no visitor, and she's never gone this long without stopping by, pre or post hormones. Pre-hormones I was 28 days, during I was 28 days and since (for 2 months) it's been 26 days, and today is day 29. So.... Yea, we'll see.

My mom said with all of us her tests didn't show up positive for three months so I'm wondering if there could be some genetic thing possibly? Either now or down the line. I dunno. I think I'm just running a little behind... Which would also be annoying cause that would mean from now on my cycle could be all screwy and different, when I'm use to it being dead on!... Confusing!

I'm trying to think if I feel any different and I really don't. I have been more sleepy, and taking more naps lately but that's the only thing that seems like a symptom. I am peeing a little more, but I think that's because I keep checking for my friend. My boobs don't hurt. I'm not sure what else I should notice but I feel fine.

So was that a premonition? I guess we'll see.

The BIG Ooops!

This morning, I woke up kind of wondering why I haven't been having my normal monthly signs that I normally do a day or so before she shows up. Well, I got a little curious and decided to bust out one of my dollar store pregnancy tests and pee on it... You know, just for fun (Yea, I do that from time to time).

I was a little sad I was about to break my streak. I've gone YEARS without pregnancy paranoia and I was about to ruin it!

When I opened the box all of this stuff fell out... a small test, a packet of some stuff to keep it fresh, and a droplet thing that I was apparently suppose to use but didn't. I didn't have time to pee in a cup then dip the droplet thing then drip a little in the little hole... So I just peed straight on the stick, trying to get a good amount in the hole.

As I watched the ENTIRE screen turn pink I wondered if I 1. was WAY pregnant or 2. put WAY too much pee in the hole. I think it was the latter.

After a few moments I saw the line I was waiting for cross the screen and display one...tw?.. No one line, and exactly what I wanted to see. I put all of the contents back in the box and hit it under a few things in the trashcan. No need to freak hubby out... Yet.

I went on through my normal day, at work. Come afternoon, I was talking to one of my best friends on the phone. We were talking about our paranoia for illness and I was explaining my hypochondriac-self, and how I had taken a pregnancy test in the morning and quickly threw it away. That's when she brought a good point to light.

"Well did you wait three minutes?" She asked me. "You're suppose to wait three minutes... Go brush your teeth or something while you're waiting, then go back to look at it."

I'm pretty sure I only waited about 30 seconds before seeing one line and throwing it away.

When I was done with work I rushed home and up the stairs to the trashcan and dumped the contents of the box out on the counter (eew I know, but don't worry I cleaned it up!)

The test looked different than it did earlier that morning. That can't be two lines... No. I'm hallucinating. One line was dark, the other very faint, but not exactly over the little letter that it should be over to signify pregnancy. Wait.. Was there a third line? What does that mean? Or is there just a second one in a different spot? My eyes are playing tricks on me. I broke the test! No, I don't want to take another one, then I'll really be crazy! And I can't take it to my husband to examine cause... Well that could just be ugly. I'm pretty sure I either left it there too long or I peed on it too much, cause I know I'm not pregnant.

Now I'm tiptoeing around. Waiting for my visitor, aka "witch" to some but for now "goddess" to me, to show up for her appointment. If she's not here waiting for me tomorrow morning I just. may. freak. !

I must add though that since this morning I'm starting to feel my usual symptoms I feel about this time so I'm sure I'll feel worse/better tomorrow and that I didn't just announce my pregnancy to the world-wide-web before I did to my husband/ myself.

PS: Today is still my half-blogiversary, celebrate with me on the post below!

The Paranoia

If my stomach so much as growls I'm thinking I may be pregnant. I've gotta go pee--Must be pregnant. My feet hurt... I'm tired... feel faint--Yep, it's the pregnancy. That's what I get right? I guess it's the price I pay for doing this and trying that. I knew this would happen and now I'm ready to KICK myself! Here's proof how paranoid I am:
I took some of ya'lls advice and just stocked up on pregnancy tests from the Dollar Store. I only got 5 though. That should hold me over for awhile.

It's weird, I haven't had this feeling for a long time. I've been on the pill, the depo shot, had an IUD, and finally... after about 5 years of diverse birth control I'm not using hormones.

I must admit, I use to think people who weren't using a hormonal form of birth control were kind of dumb... Now that I've crossed over to that side of the fence I can see it's not that strange, and it's a little annoying when people say "you're going to get pregnant right away." Well I hope not (that's not the plan)! BUT... My GYN said it could take up to a year for my cycle to go back to normal so I figured it would be best to start that timer now if that be the case.

I imagine I'll find myself in this "so now I know how it feels" scenario a lot more as my journey inches closer and closer toward motherhood. I get the feeling I'll be eating a lot of my words.

I'm trying not to talk about my paranoia. I really don't want to be "that girl." You know... The one who's always talking about the pregnancy-like sensations she feeling but INSISTS she's not (or doesn't think she's) pregnant. Although I wouldn't mind being like Michelle, and making my own personal book of my crazy-mind feelings of "maybe I'm pregnant" in a TTC Journal (when I'm actually TTC).

So far I've been pretty good about taking my Basal Temperature. I printed out about 6 months worth of charts and I've already got some dots on it! I'm surprised how FUN. It is--Wait... I'm not sure if "fun" is the right word, but it sure is interesting! I ordered "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" like a lot of you recommended. If what yall all are saying about it is right I should know when to and not to get pregnant (again, the latter being my goal). And I'm excited just to understand my anatomy better, I think it should be coming in this week! I actually don't even mind checking out that other stuff... Eer, keeping an eye on it at least (I'm not sure I know how the whole "process" should be done yet, I'm counting on the book for that one). Anything that keeps me from screwing up I'm all for!

I'm mostly worried because I just got a Tetanus/Pertussis shot and the doctor said I should wait three months before TTC, plus I'm not sure what hormones are still in my system after removing the Mirena, I've still got a little dental work to get done, AND I'm still trying to ween myself off 5-hour energy shots. Well I wanted to wait that long or longer ANYWAY but I'd feel bad if I messed up my fetus, hence my extra dose of paranoia, coming right up!
